Creating a more sustainable world - one project at a time
The everyday entry emptied directly into the kitchen with no place to put the kids' bags, shoes, & sweatshirts. However, the small house was already non-conforming regarding zoning, so any addition required a variance. The kitchen and dining room were both cramped and closed off.
We improved the traffic flow by adding a mudroom to the front of the house to organize both visitors and the kids' belongings. We opened up the kitchen to the dining area and added windows as well as a skylight to create a bright inviting space where Dad can cook while socializing with the rest of the family.
